Re per un secondo
King for a second
Participative installation, red velvet curtain, 250 limited and signed edition brochures, 3' 23'' video-animation projection (continuous loop), vintage cinema armchair, digital poster drawing spread around the town, participating viewers, environmental dimensions, 2020
photos by Giorgio Benni
The viewers, who can enter the room only one at the time, are faced with a countdown. The text above the scrolling digits prompts them to wait for the next screening, but when it reaches 00:00 they are faced with a new three-minute countdown. In the meantime, other viewers waiting outside the room can pick up one of the film presentation brochures and read it to pass the time before entering the theatre. Once the brochure is fully open, on the right side there are instructions to follow upon leaving the room: one must in fact interact with the curtain to become the protagonist of the artwork, a King for a second. This way, the viewers outside the room will be able to see the same image of posters and flyers again as a “tableau vivant”.
